 First Day of Camp

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

Hebrews 12:2

It's the first day of camp. Excitement has been building and ideas are churning through our brains just waiting to be turned into amazing stories. We grab our pens, or open our document on the computer, and start to write. It's exciting!

But what happens when we get stuck? When we run into criticism, writer's block, or dead ends? What happens if we have no idea where the story should go next, or if the ideas you had don't work? What about when our characters don't act like we think they should? Are we done? Do we give up?

Let's look at our verse for today again.

Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.

Jesus is our Author! He is writing our story. He knows when hardships come, when difficulties and stress press us on every side. He knows when our pitiful human stories that we are trying to write aren't working. He knows it all! And yet, Jesus isn't just the Author. He is the Finisher! I love that!

Do any of you have stories you've not finished? I know I do. I have some I doubt I'll ever finish, some I hope to finish, and others I'm not sure about. But Jesus is never like that. He is never at a loss as to what to do next. He never has to ask for someone else's opinion about our lives. He not only knows the beginning, the start of our story, but He knows the ending.

It's an amazing thought to think that Jesus is writing our story and WILL finish it!

But don't forget the very first part of the verse.

LOOKING

We should have our eyes on the great Author and Finisher of our faith.

As we go through the next days and weeks of writing here at camp, let us keep looking to Jesus. Let us use our stories to point others to Him. Let us trust that our Author and Finisher knows all things and will work things out for our good no matter what is going on.
