The Secret to a Life of Peace

The Secret to a Life of Peace

Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:6-7)

Who among us has never been anxious or worried? (*looks around* *sees no hands raised*) So much in our daily lives tempts us to fear, to worry, to be anxious.

And yet our loving Father has given us the permanent remedy for anxiety! “Be careful [anxious] for nothing.” But what instead? “In every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.

Prayer. Supplication. Thanksgiving. Requests being made known to God. The four-fold cure for worry! “Prayer” is worship. “Supplication” is a petition, a persevering “begging.” “Thanksgiving” is grateful language. Let God know the things you’re anxious about. Make known to Him your worries and what you desire of Him. And then! Then “the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

Prayer is the secret to a life of peace. So many in this world seek peace from all the wrong sources . . . seek your Father’s face! With a grateful, humble heart, bring everything to Him and lay it at His feet.

Are you stuck in your writing? Worried you won’t have the time to finish? Anxious about a family situation? Fearful of how others might receive the stories you pen? Today, in everything make it known unto God—and then receive His peace into your life, keeping you resting in Christ Jesus!

Father, we thank You so much for Your promises and Your peace! We thank You that You care about every detail of our lives. We thank You for the situations that we are worried about today. May we be anxious for nothing today as we make known to You our requests—and thank You that You keep us in perfect peace as our mind is stayed on You. We love You! Amen.
